Eva Ribeiro

Hand in hand with art and activism, Eva Ribeiro has been a researcher for over fifteen years in the field of performing arts.

She started her journey young, discovering street arts and clowning in the year 2003. In 2004 she started to work in the area of street theatre with the company Teatro Anónimo in Coimbra. Between 2002 and 2004 he did training in the street theatre with companies like Generik Vapeur, Les Plasticiens Vollants, Sarruga and Xarxa theatre. These trainings opened his appetite to deepen his studies in the performing arts. He then did several workshops of Clown, New Circus, Contemporary Dance and Puppet Theatre and Animated Forms in Porto where he lived between 2005 and 2007. He studied Theatre and Education with Hugo Cruz at the Universidade de Psicologia do Porto in 2006.

During this period she develops several artivism projects where she merges the language of theatre with political and communitarian intervention, starting her journey as a trainer and pedagogue.

In 2009 she completed her studies at the Jacques Lecoq School of Physical Theatre in Paris, France. She lived in several cities in Europe and continued her studies, focusing from 2010 on the art of clowning and comicality. He studied the art of clowning in several countries and had the privilege of working with Pedro Correia, Jorge Paxeco, Anabela Mira, Pedro Fabião, Adelvane Néia, Silvia Leblon, Tomato Clown, Jesus-Jara, Virginia Imaz, Matteo Cifariello, Maria Colomer, Alex Navarro and Carolina Dream, Jeff Johson, Johny Melville, Celia Ruiz, Elise Ouvrier De-Buffett, Hilary Chaplain, Olivier Terrault, Fanny Giraud and Tom Roos.

Creator of her own shows, solo or in duo, she has toured cinemas, streets, national festivals and international stages showing her original creations whose chosen languages range from buffoonery to physical comedy and absurd humour.She has also worked in the area of cultural production, organising events and artistic activities. She has actively participated in the organization of events and actions related to the promotion of the clown art in Portugal such as festivals, exhibitions and courses. Passionate about clowning pedagogy, she has already produced over two dozen clown trainings in Portugal with national and international masters, in partnership with associations, groups and companies in the national territory.

She was mentor of the Clown Nights, in Chapitô, in Lisbon and of the Clown Women Show in Malaposta, in 2015. She is artistic director of the festival Gargalhadas na Lua, in Carnide , Lisbon, organized in partnership with Lua Cheia teatro para todos and Casa do Coreto, since 2016. 

She is one of the founders of UPP – Women Clown Network in Portugal and of Palhaç@s na Orla a project dedicated to clowing without borders worldwide.
She is one of the founders and administrator of the project International Clown Laboratory, unique project in Portugal in the field of continued training in the clown art, in partnership with Nuvem Voadora – cultural association and Tom Roos, international pedagogue.

She is the mentor of the artistic project of social intervention, Palhaços Visitadores (Visiting Clowns), with underprivileged audiences. She is also dynamizer of clown art workshops, having contributed in the last years to the formation of several people and groups in the national territory, Azores, Brazil, Argentina and Spain. 

Rafa Santos

Rafa Santos was born in 1987 in Paredes. She started in the artistic world on a theatrical initiation course at Chapitô at the same time as another at Espaço Evoé, in the same area. This was followed by a Degree in Theater Interpretation and Staging at the Escola Superior Artística do Porto, the CAP – Certificate of Pedagogical Training and the CTEA Certificate of Pedagogical Training aimed at children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Along the way, professional experiences emerged as a director and actress in various artistic works, collaborating with different companies. Living longer in the company Cabeças no Ar e Pés na terra, he had the privilege of following and directing different pedagogical projects such as AAAF’s (Animation and Family Support Activities), Expressa-te (Curricular classes on dramatic expression and movement), Palco Ensino (Mostra_te _Mostra de Teatro Escolar de Valongo) and the OnSTAGE exchange project in L’Hospitalet. Lover of Mask and Clowning techniques. She deepened her artistic work and mask technique with Filipe Crawford, Nuno Pino Custódio, Fábio Gorgolini and Sofia Cabrita. In the art of clowning he studied with international masters such as Tom Roos (Belgium), Silvia Leblon (Brazil), Pedro Fabião (Portugal), Diocélio Barbosa (Brazil), Naomi Silman (Brazil), Matteo Cifariello (Italy), Ésio Magalhães (Brazil) , Hilary Chaplain (USA) and Eva Ribeiro (Portugal). She created the Clown company The Witnesses duo and the show A Aparição with Eva Ribeiro. Participated in different festivals and clown shows, Xirivella international clown show (2019), Re.toma performing arts festival in Montemor-o-novo (2020), International Clown Meeting in Vila do Conde (2021) Tem Graça festival of clown women (2022), Mostra Gargalhadas na Lua. She is part of the La Riso Family, as a clown in the social intervention artistic project, Visiting Clowns.
